Wednesday 24th September is our Spring Festival in the Kindergarten. Please arrive at school with your child at 10am. Bring a shared plate of Morning Tea to enjoy after we have all experienced the children’s Springtime presentation.

A big thank you to everyone for contributing to creating a warm and welcoming environment for the children to come to school every day. All the delicious lunches and the happy, energetic children who come every day ready to take up new experiences through their work and play.

Wishing everyone a happy Spring holiday with full health.

Cheers,

Francine

Class 1/2

Thank you to the families who came to support the children in their acting pursuits on Thursday evening. I am so proud of the growth shown by our children this term. Becoming acquainted with their character, working together as a team and performing for the entire school Thursday morning for our dress rehearsal and again for families in the evening. Thank you to Cristie and Trish for creating our costumes with such care and creativity. They will be carefully stored away to be reused in future productions!

Our Cross Country was on Monday and was a wonderful opportunity to practice determination and stamina. Well done to everyone for giving so much energy to the event. Our ‘magic e’ made another appearance in Spelling lessons, this time helping the ‘i’ sound like itself. We had spelling quizzes and hopscotch games on the snake path and learned how to spell words such as time, hike, nine and arrive.

Our school festivals are a thing to behold, and next week’s celebration of Spring is no exception. Make a flower garland, bring a picnic and come see Class 1/2 dancing a Scottish reel with more joy than you could imagine. Thank you to skilled Class 5/6 children for providing our accompanying music.

Thank you to our wonderful families for your continued support and enjoy a restful break.

Warmly,

Kath and Class 1/2 Assistants

Class 3/4

What a busy end of term it has been for sporting things with Futsal, soccer, cross country and of course circus. Circus has sadly ended for another year. Stuart has been marvellous with the children. He has a calm and encouraging manner, with firm boundaries and high expectations, that has worked so well to engage and develop the participation and skills of the Class 3/4 children.

Unfortunately, I have required more days resting, while recovering from RSV. However, I have begun to transition back to the world and work at the end of this week and seeing the blossoms and children’s smiling faces have been healing in themselves.

I am greatly appreciative to Jess and Soumya for holding the class so well in my absence. They have both remarked that the children flow beautifully in their established class routine and rhythm making it much easier to step in and keep the children settled and learning well.

The children have continued to explore the Main Lesson, Music, Maypole and Merriment, looking at rhythm and informal notation. During this time, they have created their own rhythms and enjoyed teaching this to the whole group. The beautiful Spring weather has been enjoyed on a bushwalk, Pine Forest play, and during the cross country where all children did their best. They have also enjoyed maths games, beeswax, form drawing and handwriting poems with a Spring theme. Artworks focusing on natural beauty and merriment have been an enjoyable flow from noticing and embracing the seasonal shift.

The Maypole on Wednesday, during the Spring Festival, will be such a beautiful way to end the term. The maypole is traditionally danced by Class 3/4 in Steiner schools, as it requires thinking beyond their own needs, working as a team, and learning to see themselves as part of a wider community. These things are seen as developmentally challenging, but age-appropriate skills to be nurtured at this time.

If for any reason your child will not be able to attend the Spring Festival on Wednesday and you know this in advance, can you please let the school know as it impacts the ease with which we can do the maypole together.

Have a wonderful weekend and a restful Spring holiday.

Class 5/6

This is our last Class News for the term. It has been a busy and swift time. There has been much sickness amongst staff and students, but with the Spring weather on the rise, things feel hopeful for a hearty and healthy rest of the school year. It is hard to believe that it is almost the final term of primary school for our Class 6 children.

Time flies. This term we began with Geology for our Main Lesson unit, then Business Maths and currently we have been doing a physics lesson on acoustics, optics and heat. Class 6 had a fantastic time in Canberra and Class 5 did some great collaborative projects on sustainability with Soumya during that week.

Our Cross Country race went very well. The children ran with determination and endurance. They have been practicing by doing multiple runs around the knoll and other loops. I think it paid off! Their fitness had improved over the term.

The class have been practicing for the Spring Festival. We hope you can join us on the final day of school next week to celebrate.

Lee and I would like to thank everyone for a wonderful term. May you have a safe and happy Spring holiday. Sending Springy blossomy warm wishes to you,

From Julie and Lee
