Kindergarten

Thank you everyone for a fabulous first term together. The children are amazing, absolutely beautiful and loads of fun. We can hardly wait to share our Autumn Harvest work with all our families and friends next Wednesday 1st April. Please come to school with your child at the later time of 10am with a plate of yummy Autumn food to share for morning tea.

The Kindergarten was very excited to receive new and soft carpet over the weekend. The room looks very inviting and warm with the lovely rusty, red/brown colour that now envelops the space.

This week the children painted with red and yellow creating a wonderful array of Autumn colours. We shared in the story of “The Little Red Hen”, who planted some wheat seeds in the Summertime, growing some wheat to make her very own ‘harvest loaf’ to share in the Autumn.

I look forward to more adventures together in Term Two, which will begin on Wednesday 22 April.

Wishing everyone a relaxing and restful Autumn break.

Warmly, Francine

Class 1/2

I’m so proud of our Class 1 Gnomes and Class 2 Meteors! What an outstanding effort this last few weeks, one child noted that once they wore their costume, they felt braver and more like a meteor. This was certainly true as they dipped and soared last night. Thank you to all the families who attended to share the festival atmosphere and stayed for a chat, it’s always lovely to see our community gathered.

Our Mathematics focus continued this week. The children are not only practicing number formation but counting crystals, forming groups and sharing items equally with friends.

We held a farewell picnic for Violet and Willa as they pack up and move North, it was wonderful to see them again. We wish them well and hope to cross paths again one day soon.

We had a final Eurythmy session for the term and I couldn’t help but look back on the children’s progress this year. Their ability to focus, work and move as a group something to behold. Thank you Isabella for sharing your knowledge and skill with our school community.

We were fortunate to have Kindy and Isabella join us on Friday for a whole day! Morning Circle was so much fun as we tossed bean bags and played follow the leader. Playing together with the younger children is always a joy and something we look forward to in Class 1/2.

Thank you all for your support this term! Enjoy a restful holiday, may it be full of crunchy leaves and bushwalks.

Warmly,

Kath

Class 3/4

We’ve made it to the end of Term 1! An amazing effort all round.

We finished triumphantly, with the St Michael play, and the children did such a fantastic job. Class 3 took on the mighty role of the dragon, while Class 4 carried the story forward as the townsfolk, with so many lines to learn! They really rose to the challenge. The festivals are such a beautiful part of our school.

Through the play and our recent stories, we’ve been touching on themes of courage, perseverance, and making good choices even when things feel challenging. We have looked at how Michaelmas has been celebrated by communities for 1500 years. Next week we might rabbit it up with some Peter Rabbit adventures.

As we move into the holidays, we also find ourselves in the Autumn season, a time of harvest, gathering in what we’ve worked on, and slowly letting go. We are starting to see beautiful changes all around us — cooler mornings, turning leaves, and crisper nights. A nice reminder to slow things down a little.

It’s been a big term of learning and growth, so the holidays are well deserved. We hope everyone enjoys a gentler rhythm with plenty of rest, play, and time together. Thank you for all your support this term, it really helps create such a positive class environment.

Journey well.

Class 5/6

This is the last newsletter for term 1.

It has been a busy term, as always. The class has found an evenness like water finding its own level. I am grateful for the beautiful class that I am with each day.

I’d like to thank Meredith, Minh, Simone and Rowena for their help and extra skill support throughout the term.

The children have grown up a lot and are learning skills inside the classroom and outside during playtime.

Camp: first week back: please send green permission note back before the end of term. Tents: any tents that you can lend that are 4 -5 person or less would be greatly appreciated.

We definitely had to overcome the dragon this week on our Autumn Festival play day: the threat of storms and a big angophora struck by lightning on the ball court in the morning was met by stunned children. Martin and Paul cleared the path very efficiently and the children were excited to have more branches for cubby building!!

The children were wonderful in the play, in all their roles, including the musicians and percussionists!

Thank you to everyone for all support this term.

Have a safe and joyous Easter holiday.

Warmly,

Julie
