Winter Lantern Walk and Spiral

Friday 26 June, 5.30pm

This week the children started working with their Winter Morning Circle and learning the songs they will sing on their Winter Lantern Walk. All the children, their family members and friends are welcome to join us for the Winter Lantern Walk.

Our story this week “The King Who Wanted to Touch the Moon”, has been fun, drawing a good response from the children. The students made some lovely images with their beeswax after hearing this story.

Freshly finished drink bottle holders were taken to Wentworth Falls Lake on Thursday for their first outing. These students were very proud and keen to test out the ease and delight of walking without having to hold their heavy bottles in their hands.

Parent/Teacher interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 next week.

Warmly,

Francine and Isabella

Class 1/2

Class 1/2 has begun a new Literacy-based Main Lesson called World Stories. The combination of engaging stories and exploring countries known and new on the class globe is wonderful. So far, we have travelled vicariously from Australia to Tibet and Russia and met many new friends. How fortunate we are to have such a rich and varied curriculum at Blue Mountains Steiner School.

Class 1/2 has also begun the process of making lanterns for our Winter Festival. The spiral in Class 2’s painting imitates the walk the children will take on the Winter Solstice. If you have any lids from glass jars, please send them in to assist with our lantern making. Also, kindly keep the evening of Thursday 25 June available for one of our favourite school community celebrations.

Enjoy the weekend!

Class 3/4

Class 3/4 had an exciting day at the zoo this week. Popular animals included penguins, capybaras, lions, elephants, baby giraffe and cassowaries. Class 3 has also nearly finished their lanterns! The weather has been beautifully warm at school.

Enjoy your weekend.

Class 5/6

Our geometry lessons are fun and getting our synapses working in new ways. Lantern making is at its peak as are Firestick rehearsals for Class 6. Parent teacher meetings are next week. Book this week if you want a meeting.
Have a lovely weekend,
Julie
