Kindergarten

Welcome everyone to Term 2. We started the new term with energy and vigour, making Autumn leaf window transparencies and fabulous beeswax creations in the afternoon after story time.

During gardening time with Annie, the children embraced the challenge of making a natural woven fence, with long offcuts from pruning the mulberry tree in the school garden. All the leaves had to be pulled from the long branches first, before being woven between the wooden stakes with the help of Annie. The children worked so hard with determination and focus, loving every minute of this new challenge.

It was delightful to have the children back at school today. Everyone has grown bigger over the holidays, returning with renewed enthusiasm for playing and engaging with each other at school.

With warm wishes from,

Francine, Kathryn and Isabella

Class 1/2

Welcome back to Term 2! We loved hearing about all your holiday adventures and hope it was a restful break. It’s always such a joy to have all the children back at school after a break and the children applied themselves with quiet determination: writing holiday recounts, exploring 2-dimensional shapes, gardening, bushwalking and craft.

As I have been unwell this week, I send a big thank you to Amy and Soumya who did an outstanding job continuing the planned learning activities and routines of Class 1/2.

Thank you also to the children who worked together as our school family to be kind, inclusive and respectful towards each other.

Our first Main Lesson of the term is called “Our Place.” This is one of my favourite Main Lessons where we will explore our local area as well as how to build resilience and respectful relationships. We will learn to orientate ourselves through basic mapping and explore sense of ‘place’ in various contexts.

This week we also welcome Nova to Class 1. We are so pleased to have a new friend join our community and look forward to our adventures together.

Warmly,

Kath

Class 3/4

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope the holidays were restful.

We have already handed out two excursion notes – the rescheduled Everglades picnic and an exciting trip to Sydney Zoo.

Other exciting things this term: A Mother’s Day morning tea, Autumn Harvest Fair and Winters Night. All beautiful things to look forward to.

For the fair we are making Fire Cider – an herbal tonic spanning centuries and continents, used to boost immunity. We would love a donation of large jars – 500ml to 1 litre, to help us create the tonic. We are making it Friday, Week 3, so if the jars could come in next week that would be wonderful.

We also have Semester 1 reports, and parent teacher interviews towards the end of the term. There has been a request for home readers, so we will get those set up this term.

Our Main Lesson is all about animal classification and how animals and humans have interacted. It should be delightful.

Warm regards

Jeneva

Class 5/6

Welcome to Term 2!

Currently we are camping at Ganguddy, setting up tents, enjoying the lovely Autumnal weather, kayaking and venturing over the amazing granite rock pagodas. What a special place!

Thank you to everyone who supported our camp by lending and donating tents and helping your children to prepare for camp. Thank you to Stephanie, Paul, Martin and Jeri for all their help making it a fun experience.

Please check all notes sent home and my class calendar (with one mistake) can you see it? It’s a pretty obvious one that I missed, but one of your observant children saw immediately!

Ancient Rome is still a part of our days, as is maths and spelling practice, drawing and all the other activities that fill our days.

Could you please send in any empty spare jars you have on Tuesday, preferably about 300–400-gram size.

Have a lovely long weekend.
Autumnally,
Julie
