Kindergarten/Boronia Room

Welcome back everyone to a new term. It was lovely to see the children again, they have all grown and everyone looks so rested and refreshed. The children were delighted to see their friends again and couldn’t wait to play and share their stories with each other.

This week we enjoyed a special Indian cultural story called “Paati and the Stolen Vada” told by Rika. On Thursday Rika came dressed in her sari so the children could see a sari and how it is worn. We thank Rika for bringing this experience to the children.

Please note that our Winter Festival which is made up of a night time lantern walk and Winter Spiral, will take place on Friday 20th June at 5.30pm Week 8. This Kindergarten festival is unique to the Kindergarten year and not one to be missed.

Please think about including a singlet under your child’s clothing and a coat, ready for the cold days ahead.

Warm wishes

Class 1/2

Welcome back to Term 2 delightful Class 1/2 families! We loved hearing about all your holiday adventures and hope it was a restful break. It was such a joy to see all the children back at school but it feels like I’ll be the shortest person in the room any day now! With renewed energy the children dove straight back into Italian language and writing holiday recounts, painting, craft and maths challenges!

Our first Main Lesson of the term is called “Our Place” where Class 1/2 will follow two children, Peter and Skye, as we explore our local area. We will learn to orientate ourselves through basic mapping and explore sense of ‘place’ in various contexts.

Finally, I’d like to invite family members to attend our craft sessions at around 11.40 am-noon on a Monday. There’s nothing like have a chat on the veranda while practicing dolphin stitch, winding wool or knitting. Crafting skills are not essential, come along, have a chat and help thread a needle!

Warmly,

Kath and Class 1/2 Assistants

Class 3/4

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all had a restful holidays.

We have welcomed a new class member, Xani (Roxana), in Year 3. It is exciting to have her join our beautiful class and school.

We have started our new Main Lesson of Building and Shelters, and look forward to learning more about traditional building styles, materials, famous architecture and exploring building methods ourselves.

A note about the class building project will go home soon. And the children will have most of the term to complete it.

We have also started a permaculture journal this term, to help us document our garden discoveries. Last week we revised the first permaculture principal of integrate: don’t separate.

We have an excursion planned for this week to explore the incredible building of the Linden Observatory and also Kings Cave which has been used as a shelter by first nations people, Kings’ men building roads and as a hideout for bushrangers.

In Italian the children talked about what they did over the holidays.

We also had a first assembly to welcome the students back and talk about the exciting term ahead.

I am enjoying the cool weather and delightful autumn colour!

Any questions or concerns please get in touch so it’s a shared load.

Kind regards

Jeneva and Meredith

Class 5/6

Welcome to term 2. We have begun on our first Main Lesson: Ancient Babylon and Egypt. We are also finishing off Botany from last Term. Just a reminder that the Botany projects are due this Friday, week 2.

You should have received an email with information about this term. You can also check the school calendar for information of camps etc.

The weather is cooling down, so please make sure your child has clothing that keeps them warm, particularly if you travel from the lower mountains where it’s mostly warmer.

Looking forward to a great term.

Warmly,

Julie and Lee
