Kindergarten

Kindergarten Winter Festival Friday 26th June 5.30pm

Lantern Walk for all children attending Kindergarten and Winter Spiral for full time Kindergarten children following on from the Lantern Walk

Our younger members of the Kindergarten, the Little Kindy children, joined us again on Tuesday. It was so delightful to see all their smiling faces back at school for another term.

We will sadly be saying farewell to Kathryn Tang next Tuesday, after a long involvement with our school. Kathryn’s contribution within our school has been wide and varied. Kathryn will be greatly missed by both staff and students alike. We wish her the very best with her new direction and adventures in life.

Isabella Jaworski will take up the assistant role in the Kindergarten working with the children on a Tuesday. We thank Isabella for stepping into this role, providing familiarity and consistency for the children.

Reports and Parent / Teacher interviews will take place this term. Written reports are for full time Kindergarten students; however, interviews can be made available for part-time students on request. These interviews will take place in Week 9.

A reminder that our Autumn Harvest Fair is rapidly approaching set for Saturday 23rd May. Please offer to help on a stall if you would like to get involved on the day.

Warmest wishes to everyone, Francine, Kathryn and Isabella

Class 1/2

What glorious weather we’ve had this week! Our new song in Class 1/2 includes the line “crunch, crackle, crack, crip” which perfectly describes the satisfying sound of walking across our bush playground. Annie harvested an enormous zucchini which was perfect for making chocolate zucchini muffins on Wednesday – so big in fact we doubled the recipe and shared our delicious baked goods with our friends across the breezeway!

During Main Lesson this week we continued to explore “Our Place” considering where we feel safe and happy and home and school. Appreciating the differences and similarities, sense of ‘place’ and who are the safe people are in our lives.

The joyful sounds of children and recorders have inspired all this week as we have been familiarising ourselves with our beautiful recorders. The children heard a story of a young girl who lost her enchanting singing voice and received the gift of music through a wooden flute.

Enjoy a wonderful sunny weekend!

Warmly,

Kath

Class 3/4

This week in our Main Lesson we looked at animal classification and more in depth about mammals. We learned about the otter which is a fascinating animal.

We have been busy Mother’s Day crafting with much excitement and mess 😉

We have been practising beautiful songs for next week’s Mother’s Day morning tea. Shhh! We have incorporated that into handwriting lyrics to deepen our knowledge of the words while practising our neat work.

On Friday we will make the fire cider with Annie, ready for the fair.

In maths we have been looking at addition and exploring the different methods, gaining confidence each day.

In writing, we have been doing a joint story about Platy the Platypus, with children then working on their own narratives.

Enjoy the weekend

Jeneva

Class 5/6

This week is full of ‘thank yous’ from me.

I’d like to thank all the families for providing great snacks on our camp. It’s always an essential part of our camps to have those extra morning and afternoon tea delights to keep everyone going strong.

The camp was so beautiful! It is so great seeing the children’s capabilities grow over the years: from Class 1 missing home and losing socks and not knowing how to stuff a sleeping bag back in its cover, to Class 5 and 6 where they figure out tent set-up riddles and pack-ups, to not leaving one thing behind! I’m very proud of their organisational skills!

Thanks to Jess and Amy who carried on with our class work while I was away. The class is very adaptable, and the routines and rhythms hold them, no matter what.

We are working on an in-class project, plus there will be a take-home project. I’ll send the note out soon.

Have a lovely weekend,

Julie

PS: please send a jar or two in if you have some smallish ones to spare.
