Preschool

In the Wattle Room Circle time is a great opportunity for the children to have deep and meaningful engagement with their educators and peers. In Preschool our circles change with the seasons. We incorporate songs from the Steiner philosophy, indigenous communities, and some commonly known songs. It is a wonderful moment that brings us all together to start off our day.

Kindergarten/Boronia Room

Kindergarten parents are invited to meet the Class One teacher, Katherine Turner, on Thursday 21 November (Week 6) at 7pm in the Class One room below the ballcourt.

This is a special evening where parents (child-free event) of children going into Class One get to meet with their child’s teacher and discuss any pressing concerns and ask questions. Please put this date aside and RSVP to Karen in the office of your intention to attend.

A reminder to pack spare clothes in the children’s school bags every day for water and sand play.

Have a great weekend.

Francine

Class 1/2

This week Class 1 and 2 have been separately rehearsing the play “Gurungady and Mirrin”, focusing on drama games and cooperative skill building to begin with. The Class Play will be on Thursday 28 November at 6pm. We look forward to seeing all Class1/2 families, including grandparents, there!

We have sent home the children’s lines – it would be great if you can support them to practice their lines.

Thank you to the parent group who are working diligently on our costumes!

Reminder, we also sent out a permission note this week for our Class 2 sleepover/Class 1 dinner which is on Thursday 5 December. We need lots of helpers, so please indicate on the note, or email us, what you can help with.

Have a great weekend,

Soumya, Amy, and Kath

Class 3/4

The class is rehearsing for their play. The children have taken the scripts home to practice over the weekend. Please try and support them to learn not only their own lines, but also the parts that say ‘ALL.’

They have incredible memories, so although our play is next week, I believe we will get there!

Costumes have been discussed, and children have been bringing clothes in from home. If your child has not discussed this with you, could you please help them to work out what to bring? Props are being made, and movements are being choreographed and rehearsed.

Apart from our play, we have also been humming along with maths, spelling, reading, music, and craft. All is happy, busy, and well in the 3/4 realm at this point in the term.

My only hope is that it does not rain next Wednesday, as we are supposed to be performing outside our classroom in the ‘Greek Theatre’ area (near the mud brick cubby, or should I say,’ Shepherd’s hut’ – spoiler alert!)

Have a lovely weekend,

Julie and Meredith

Class 5/6

Class 5 enjoyed the most amazing camp last week. We engaged in activities like BMX bike riding, fencing, water sports and making a fire and cooking damper.

The play has become all-consuming for Class 5/6 now! It has been an exciting time for many students who are doing things they have never done before.

Eve is doing an excellent job creating a brilliant and original set in her role as set designer; Leif, as musical Director, and Sydney as part of his team have chosen some wonderful and funny songs and Louis has been relishing his job as sound effects supervisor. Matilda, as costume Designer, has been repurposing gowns from other plays and doing costume fittings. Dancers Jesse J and Wren are firing on all cylinders as they prepare choreography to enhance important scenes. Everyone has been helping transform the space under Class 1/2 into a creative theatre.

It has been amazing how much we have had to use maths in our theatre production – calculating how many seats we can fit, how many people, how much fabric etc.

I would like to thank Lee and Arya for sewing together recycled fabrics for our backdrops and the whole of Class 5/6 for working so well together as a team.

Have a wonderful week!

Elizabeth and Lee
