Kindergarten

Kindergarten Winter Festival – Friday 26 June 5.30pm

We have had so much rain that the mushrooms growing in the Kindergarten playground have exploded. The children go on mushroom spotting walks around the garden, finding areas where they are growing, looking to see how many different types and colours they can find.

This week the children also enjoyed the retelling of the puppet play from the Autumn Fair, “The Old Man’s Hat”.  They made drawings about the story and some creative beeswax images also emerged from their imaginations in response to the playful tale.

The drink bottle holders are in their final stages of development, with their bases starting to be sewn onto the bottom of the felt cylinders. Once the finger knitted straps are attached the drink bottle holders will be ready for their first bush walk. All we will need then is some dry, sunny weather!

Warm wishes to everyone.

Class 1/2

Our Harvest Fair was a wonderful opportunity to see old and new friends, meet grandparents and show off our much-loved school to visitors. Thank you to those who made the day such a success for volunteering at everything from the BBQ to supervising sandpit exploration!

It’s been a cosy week in Class 1/2 soothing painting, warm porridge mornings and snatching sunshine gardening with Annie. Our Main Lesson has progressed through the Land of Number, Farmer Plus set up his produce stall at the Fair and Tatiana Times has skipped her way around the castle grounds. I marvel at the children’s natural curiosity of numbers and the processes. What a delight!

Reconciliation Week has been a gentle reminder for us to care for Country: land, animals and people around us. Listening to the children’s endearing and delightful ideas to improve our world warms the heart.

Enjoy the weekend and the last of Autumn leaves!

Warmly,

Kath

Class 3/4

Thank you to everyone who came to the Autumn Fair on Saturday, to support your children and be part of the community. It was a beautiful day. If your child didn’t get a bottle of Fire Cider, we have spare in the classroom.

On Monday I was unwell and on Tuesday I had a day of Art Therapy course work. The children were very settled in my absence, and it appears all recent chats have made a difference.

In Main Lesson we looked at the koi fish, sharks and have now moved onto reptiles. It was a shame to have to reschedule the Sydney Zoo excursion, we will make a new date in the next few weeks. The rain would have been just too miserable to navigate, even for mountain children.

The children have been enjoying gymnastics on a Friday, girls’ and boys’ wellbeing on Tuesdays and every week Mare raves about their focus in violin on a Thursday. We started to practice Winter Festival songs and soon we will start making lanterns. Though I keep saying that and it always feels like there are things that need to happen first! We are officially halfway through the term though.

Enjoy your weekend.

Class 5/6

Thank you to everyone who came along to the Harvest Fair. What a lovely day. It was nice to see family from our class come and look at their work. They sang and played violins so well!

Rome projects are coming in this week. So far, the presentations have been impressive.

We began our Geometry Main Lesson, and the Year 5 children were very excited to receive their compasses. They have been learning how to use and take care of them.

I sent an email earlier this week about Firesticks rehearsals for Year 6 and dates for Canberra (Year 6) and Farewell Dinner (Year 5 and 6). Please check if you haven’t already.

Parent teacher meetings are happening soon. Book in if you haven’t already.

Raincoats are a good accompaniment for school at the moment. Many children don’t seem to be bringing them…

Have a lovely weekend,

Julie
