Kindergarten/Boronia Room

The Kindergarten Spring Festival will be held at 10am on Wednesday, 25 September.  Please put that day aside to join the children for a late start at school and a day of Spring celebrations.

This week the children enjoyed hearing the story of the “Six Men and the Elephant”.  It is a fun story and the children delighted in discovering the humour in the story over its repeated retelling throughout the week.

The kindergarten children have been very busy completing a gift for their fathers. They have all been beavering away each day growing their craft project and getting it ready for Father’s Day this Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend and family time together.

Warmly,

Francine

Class 1/2

Woah…what a windy week! On Monday morning the children did some hard work carrying mulch into the garden to re-mulch the paths, to create moisture. Class 2 harvested more cauliflowers which were enjoyed later in the week. Class 1 found 11 chicken eggs! We also did an experiment making a ‘volcano explode’ in the sandpit (thanks to vinegar and baking soda!)

Class 1 have been focusing on two good friends, Farmer Plus and Molly Minus who help each other to solve Maths problems. Class 2 have been learning lots of words and phrases in Darug language.

We also started our Spring Festival dances and songs this week – hello Spring!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Class 3/4

This week we have been learning all about the farmer as part of our Farming Main Lesson. We are now at the Yurt Farm and it’s all systems go!

Tractor rides, campfires, feeding an orphan lamb called Lucky with a baby bottle and eating in an old farm shed. The children are having fun, running amongst the hills, kangaroos and eucalypts! Thanks to Lindsey and Martin for cooking up a storm.

Have a great weekend. We’ll all be sleeping well!

Class 5/6

This week in Class 5/6 we finished off our mosaics by spraying and polishing our tiles.

We’ve also just started learning more of our new Main Lesson, Physics. We learned about gravitational pulls, contact forces and non-contact forces, air resistance, spring force and friction.

We also made little Japanese dolls with Sayoko.
