Kindergarten
Spring is on its way!
Our Spring Festival will be held on Wednesday 23 September at 10am. The children come to school with their parents at 10am and children can head home after the festival at 11.15am.
This week we have been singing “Spring is coming” and the children heard the story of the “Little Snow Drop”, that brings the first signs of Spring.
We also enjoyed a very fun Book Parade as part of Book Week celebrations on Tuesday morning. Thank you to all the families who supported their children with costumes and the courage to come dressed as their favourite book character.
Next week the school is hosting a Father’s Day stall on Tuesday 1 September and a Father’s Day or (significant father figure) morning tea on Thursday 3 September at 10am.

Class 1/2
It’s been wonderful having most of the class back this week after a period of sickness, playing in the sunshine and catching up with our friends. Main Lesson has been an opportunity to familiarise ourselves with the characters from The King of Ireland’s Son and we have begun learning the words for our play. We have been focusing on drama skills and voice projection each day.
Our Book Week Parade was a wonder this week! The children loved dressing up and sharing their favourite books with their friends, we met Wolf Girl, Slinky Malinky, a sweet dragon, Pippy Longstocking, The Old Man from A Squash and A Squeeze, a Narwal, Dogman, Bilgo Baggins, Clifford the dog and Cat in a Hat. I even heard Dragons Love Tacos for the first time! Well done everyone, we love to read in Class 1/2.
Gardening with Annie this week was lots of fun, some children planted chilli plants and others planted celery. We built a pumpkin castle/trellis, watered and pruned. Thanks to Annie for your care and support in our lessons!

Class 3/4
Highlights of our week include Cross Country practice, Forest School and amazing Book Week costumes. In Main Lesson we enjoyed exploring the history of Book Week, drawing our costumes, and looking at excellent authors and illustrators.
We also had some “increasingly successful” maypole practices. The maypole produces life lessons. It is hard to be patient while others learn, or to be kind to ourselves while we learn. Hence cultivating “a mood like a spring day” is more important than a perfect dance.
Next week is busy. We have our Print Museum excursion and Father’s Day stall on Tuesday. We also have our Father’s Day morning tea on Thursday at 10.15. Any male mentors are welcome or mums who do the job of dads. The more people showing love to the kids the better! Have a lovely weekend as we start to spy the first blossoms of Spring.

Class 5/6
This week we have been working with Ancient Greek creation stories. Titans have been the focus for this part of the week.
Harry’s mum Sarah came and shared her amazing artistic skills with us. The class worked with one- and two-point perspectives with me, and we are working with two-point perspective to draw the Parthenon. So much fun! We are only part way through. As I write this, I am hoping for a successful food stall on Thursday.
The bushwalk permission note has gone out. Thank you to everyone who supported the class to participate in the Book Parade with fabulous costumes! I think it was the highest percentage of 5/6 students dressing up that I’ve seen!
