Kindergarten
I wish to thank all the Kindergarten families for your support and care throughout the year. It has been a pleasure working with your beautiful children, they are so industrious, responsive and fun loving. Thank you so very much.
The children have spent a wonderful year playing together, making cubbies, digging in the sand pit, sharing stories, crafting and baking bread. The Kindergarten children have become so strong and capable. They enjoy running, swinging, balancing and chasing each other. I am amazed and delighted by their abilities to interact, negotiate and socialise with each other. I love seeing the joy and enthusiasm they so freely express for life. It has been an honour and a privilege to work with this delightful group of children.
I wish everyone a relaxing Summer break and a joyous Festive Season.
~ Francine

Class 1/2
Summer has arrived and we have basked in the beautiful sunny days, enjoyed water play, frozen oranges and explored our bush playground. Thank you to Julie, Lee and Class 5/6 for coordinating Fun Day on Monday this week. The children had a ball, dancing at the disco, fishing for ducks and having their faces painted. Our school leaders were outstanding in their mentoring of the younger children, and the day was an absolute success.
Our Inspirational People Main Lesson has introduced children to the stories of Shiva and the Tiller, Cathy Freeman, Maria Merian and St Francis. We have pondered the qualities of perseverance, kindness and the wonders of the natural world.
As we enter our last week of school for the year, I would like to express my gratitude to our community for the support of myself and Class 1/2 through the beautiful and busy days of 2025. We are so fortunate to be a part of Blue Mountains Steiner School, to be wrapped up in the love of you all. Farewell to Daniela and her beautiful family, they will be missed but we wish them well on their new beginnings. Thank you also to Rowena, Isabella, Freya and Jenn for their care and support of the children and myself this term.
Enjoy a safe and restorative holiday, I look forward to seeing children running across the playground back to school in 2026!
Warmly,
~ Kath

Class 3/4
Last newsletter of the year and as someone accustomed to end of year speeches, though ironically also someone who found myself shy as a church mouse at the play last night… this is my “end of year speech” tribute to my beautiful class.
To Joey, your imagination and kindness are jewels and as such, you are affectionately loved in our class.
Rose, I admire your diligence, your strength of character, your drive for beauty and your desire to make things be just right, in your learning work and in your play.
Dear Arlo, most likely to jump in and lend a hand in a time of need, a lad of action, ready with an encouraging word for all, in their low moments, myself included.
Billie, self-contained observer with a smile, but an essential part of the fabric of our class, a beautiful thread of calm, steadiness.
Billy, you could make a career drawing trees, with their entwined branches holding the strength of a giant on watch at Jotunheim. Your heart is alive with stories, heard, read and imagined.
Miriam, oh what a spark of life you hold, a bold and spirited girl, scripted for greatness.
Pip, most likely to find an appealing side quest of fascinating knowledge that we both want to drop everything and explore then and there, but need to pause for later, returning to the here and now less exciting realities, consoled (somewhat) with the “it’s good to have things to look forward to”.
Lew, I could listen to your stories endlessly, like my favourite podcast. The detail, the excitement, the interest, the pride and expressive tone you show in your inner voice is captivating.
Talia, adorable no doubt, but also growing daily in confidence and tenacity. A lovely mix of modes of dreamy, fun and let’s get the job done determination.
Poppy, you remind us to not rush and to take time to listen to our friends and chat and play and notice the cuteness and great things of any moment in time.
Xani, your sensitive insights are a gift, your ability to feel and see things strongly, a richness. Your smile and sense of fun, enjoyed by all.
Willa, you are a leader and wise beyond your years. Strong boundaries and anchored in that which makes you happy and grounded.
Georgia S, I admire your efficiency, order, precision, creativity, and how hard you work is astounding. You could crochet the world with that drive for self-improvement.
Claire, if we could bottle your warm, calm, happy, get on with it approach to life we would drink it for breakfast, lunch and tea and toast the stars for how to be true to yourself.
Juliette, I think you have done 3 years of schoolwork in one. Athlete and student extraordinaire. And never a mean word about anyone. Admirable.
Garnett, our class timekeeper, you have kept us in rhythm and order, and your politeness and courage could never be faulted.
Leo, you come to life when you sing, act and create. You have thirst for life and knowledge that you fold into origami and hold in your hand reminding us of your talents.
Georgia B, clever and fun, entering the room with a beaming smile and most likely to get your work done well and fast, so you can enjoy time giggling and being with your friends.
Frida, with your quiet confidence and knowledge of your strengths, I admire your love of words and desire to conquer them in reading, writing or reciting verses.
Oskar, truly a genius of creative, original thoughts and a gentle caretaker of our dear earth.
Jupi, you a sunshine delight who has embraced our school like you have been waiting to find your way here. We are so glad you have. And I’m glad I have too.
Warm wishes for the summer holidays ahead.
~ Jeneva

Class 5/6
Dear 5/6 families,
What a year we’ve had!
It has been my absolute pleasure and honour to be a part of your child’s schooling life this year. We have spent many hours together and have learnt so much from one another. I know that sounds like something that people just say, but I mean it. Every single day, the class along with Lee and myself, have worked together on either achieving set outcomes, as well as improvising through the incidentals that always arise each and every day.
The group have been supportive, funny, enthusiastic and kind, and I know that this cohort are going to miss one another as Year 6 move onto high school. With the Year 6 Farewell last Saturday and the farewell Summer Assembly this Wednesday at 11:30 am, I am hoping we will find through these celebratory traditions, a way of meeting the feelings of change that are nigh on the horizon.
Class 6 will be greatly missed, there is no doubt about that, but we wish them all the absolute very best as they travel along the inevitable paths of high school and beyond. Your children are only this age once, treasure every moment (even when it gets tricky!).
Another change that is upon us is that our dear Lee is retiring at the end of this year. Lee has been at our school for 8 years and has supported so many children, classes, the teachers and the school as a whole. Lee has brought a lifetime of skills and experience to the children, particularly with literacy. There are so many children who have been able to take extra support in areas they have needed it, skills that will be with them throughout their lives. Lee’s artistic skills, kindness, care and generosity have permeated throughout everything that she has brought to our school. We all deeply appreciate her professional collegiality. She will be greatly missed, but we wish her and her family all the absolute very best. May you have some wonderful adventures, Lee!
Lastly, I’d like to thank every family (and extended family members) for supporting the children, the class and the school.
May you have a happy and safe holiday.
Happy 2026!
Warm Summer wishes to you,
~ Julie
PS: Year 6 had a great time at Raging Waters! They all agree that it’s a kind of Rite of Passage! It was so nice for Martin and I to hang out just with them as a group for the last time in their primary school journey. Here’s some photos from the day!
