Kindergarten
This week the children have been practicing their Spring Circle every morning. On Tuesday morning the students had a chance to try on the gowns for the upcoming Festival. This third term is rapidly coming to its end. We look forward to sharing the last day of term with everyone at our Spring Festival next Wednesday 23 September at 10am.
On Wednesday, the children went down into the chicken pen and worked with Annie to clean out the nesting boxes ready for the holidays. We took some rosemary and lavender cuttings to help deodorise and cleanse the space. The children delight in giving the chickens cuddles and pats.
The children heard a Japanese tale called “The Robe of Feathers” during story time. They made some beautiful beeswax figures in response to the story.
The craft time mice are almost ready to be taken into the children’s play. Be on the lookout for some cheeky mice on the run during the upcoming holidays.
Wishing everyone a joy filled Spring holiday.

Class 1/2
Thank you to the families who came to support the children on Thursday in our Class Play, The King of Ireland’s Son. I am so proud of the growth shown by our children this term. Familiarising themselves with the story and their character and working together as a team. The children proudly performed for the entire school on Thursday morning for our dress rehearsal and again for families in the evening. Thank you to the families who assisted in creating our costumes with such care and creativity. They will be carefully stored away to be reused in future productions!
Our school festivals are a thing to behold, and next week’s celebration of Spring is no exception. Make a flower garland, bring a picnic and come see Class 1/2 dancing an Irish jig with more joy than you could imagine.
Thank you to our wonderful families for your continued support this term and enjoy a restful break.
Warmly,
Kath

Class 3/4
This week Class 3/4 connected with Country and each other as we spent two days and a night in the pine forest. Just how beautiful it was, was surprising to experience through the changing hours. We journeyed with sparkling stars, powerful owls, amber sunrises through the tall trees and changing soft shadows.
We greatly enjoyed love from home in the form of baked deliciousness, plus veggie nachos, ice cream cones and marshmallows roasted over the fire. There was no risk of anyone being tired and hungry.
We challenged ourselves to set up our own tents, serve and clean up our own meals and be kind to each other when tired, hot or frustrated. It was pleasing to see the children be independent and responsible.
We sang to the trees, went on treasure hunts and torch lit forest meanders, sketched and painted with water colours on picnic rugs and played imaginative games. But the most popular activity by far, was lying in your tent chatting.
We laughed at my tent sliding down the hill, and snoring camp mates, and groaned at tents that partied too late and loud then complained about being tired in the morning.
Highlights were seeing Klara smiling and loving being with her class in the bush, and the joy the children expressed living so closely amongst nature and having largely unscheduled time to stop and notice things.
It was a lovely time, though I have been singing the praises of my bed and shower ever since. A quick lesson in gratitude for home luxuries. Now we are back into Maypole mode, and the holidays are delightfully close.
Warm regards
Jeneva

Class 5/6
Cliches are such because there is often much truth in them…. Gosh the time has flown by this term!
I don’t know what it’s like from your perspective, but as a teacher, it has whizzed by. The class feels strong and happy and the children are really coming into their own. I have noticed big changes in them throughout this term. There’s self-sufficiency, independence and capabilities soaring all over the place…! I’m not sure if it’s the same at home, but I’m certainly seeing it at school.
This term we have studied Astronomy and Greek History and Myths and touched on Business Maths through our Food Stalls. This topic will continue next term. Meredith, Minh and Simone have consistently supported children in various areas of their learning, and we have been learning some great skills with Sarah in our drawing project of the Parthenon.
A big thank you to all of the students and families who contributed to our very successful cake stall. I really appreciated the support
Next Term is a busy one with the Greek Olympics for Class 5 (involving a day trip to Glenaeon School) and the three-day trip to Canberra for Class 6. The class has begun training for the Olympics with Pete. Circus with Stuart was great this term. I could really notice the development in the children’s skills, having done it for the last 5 years or so.
See you at the Spring Festival next Wednesday for the performances, picnic and games and I hope your Spring holiday is an enriching and revitalising time.
Warmly,
Julie and Meredith
